A long and savory wine from the Roero lands

A historic Barbera d’Alba from the Gallino family

The Gallino winery produce the Barbera d’Alba Superiore DOC “Elaine”, named in honor of a relative of the Gallino family. Elaine emigrated to California, USA and later returned to Valle del Pozzo, to reunite with the Gallino family. The wine, aged in oak barrels, finds its balance between rich fruity scents and spicy sensations.

PRODUCTIN AREA: Roero, municipality of Canale

SOIL: Sandy calcareous, clayey of light color

HARVEST: End of September, exclusively by hand

CULTIVATION: Traditional Guyot with 8/9 fruits per plant

YIELD PER HECTARE: 70 QT

VINIFICATION: Crushing and destemming of the grapes, maceration 7/10 days with manual pumping over, vinified and refined in steel tanks

MATURATION: 25 hhl wooden barrels for about 12 months dependind on the vintage

COLOUR: Deep and intense ruby red with violet reflections

BOUQUET: Small red fruits, plum jam, spicy

TASTE: Berriers, strawberry jam, ramasin, savory and persistent, spicy finish

PAIRINGS: Pasta dishes, meat main courses, aged and fresh cheeses, cured meats

SERVING TEMPERATURE: Room temperature
